The General Company for Iraqi Ports Combats Oil Pollution at Al-Hartha Thermal Power Plant


Basra: The General Company for Iraqi Ports has begun operations to combat the oil pollution that occurred at Al-Hartha Thermal Power Plant, using marine pollution control boats. The company’s general manager, Farhan Al-Fartousi, stated that the operation was carried out under the supervision and presence of the Assistant Technical Director General, Abdul Sada Khalaf Finjan. Necessary technical measures were taken to limit the spread of the oil spill and treat it effectively.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the efforts also included treating pollution in water stations located on the banks of Shatt al-Arab. This action aims to ensure that water sources are not affected and to protect the marine environment from any damage resulting from the leak.



The company affirmed its permanent commitment to preserving the marine environment and rapid intervention to treat any cases of pollution. This is done in cooperation with the competent authorities, with the aim of supporting environmental sustainability in Basra Governorate.
