Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has returned to the capital, Baghdad, after his participation in the 61st Munich Security Conference. His engagement at the conference included a series of significant meetings that aimed to strengthen international collaborations and address pressing global issues.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office released a statement detailing the high-profile meetings held by al-Sudani. During the conference, he received Rashad Al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, and Admiral Stuart Munch, the Commander of the NATO Joint Operations Command. Additionally, al-Sudani met with the British National Security Advisor, Jonathan Powell.

The Prime Minister’s schedule also included dialogues with notable figures such as the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNDOC), the Commissioner-General of the UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, and the European Union Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Schweitzer. These meetings focused on issues ranging from regional security to humanitarian aid.

Al-Sudani further engaged with the CEO of the International Crisis Group, Comfort Eyro, and the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, to discuss global conflict resolution and justice. In addition to these diplomatic engagements, he met with US Senator Elissa Slotkin and representatives from several prominent companies, including Klas Company, German company Veridos, Spanish group Indra, Airbus, and the CEO of Planet, Will Marshall.

These meetings underscore Iraq’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and addressing global challenges, as reflected in al-Sudani’s participation in the Munich Security Conference.
