Beirut: Protesters set fire to a car belonging to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) on the road to Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a member of the peacekeeping forces was injured after Hezbollah supporters set fire to a UNIFIL car near the airport.

The Lebanese army responded by sending reinforcements to disperse the demonstrations and imposed a security cordon around the burning vehicle. Video clips circulating on social media platforms showed footage of the blaze engulfing the UN vehicle.

The unrest was part of a larger protest, with numerous Lebanese citizens blocking the road to Beirut International Airport. The demonstrators were reacting to the refusal to allow an Iranian plane to land, a situation that also sparked protests in Tehran.

In response to the incident, the acting commander of the Lebanese army, Hassan Awda, reached out to the UNIFIL commander. Awda stated that the army does not condone any attacks on UNIFIL and is committed to arresting and prosecuting those responsible for the attack on its members.
