Baghdad: The Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) announced the arrest of arms dealers and the seizure of remnants of the terrorist ISIS entity.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the INSS revealed that the operations were part of the ongoing efforts to establish security and adhere to the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to ensure weapons are confined to state control. The operations took place across several governorates, resulting in the seizure of various weapons, ammunition, and war remnants.

In Baghdad, the INSS detachments, after receiving judicial approvals, successfully identified a residential house used for weapon storage and trade. An individual was arrested at the site, who, during initial investigations, disclosed information about additional weapons stored in a nearby building. A subsequent raid of this building led to the seizure of 41,750,000 Iraqi dinars, alongside light weapons and four hand grenades.

In Kirkuk, acting on information provided by a local citizen regarding a stockpile of ammunition linked to ISIS elements, INSS units, after obtaining judicial approval, located and seized three shells, two missiles, and various types of ammunition.

In Anbar, the INSS identified and seized the remains of the terrorist entity, which included 20 containers filled with explosive materials and 10 detonation rulers. In the same region, intelligence led to the arrest of an arms dealer who was found with a cache of weapons, spare parts, ammunition magazines, and hand grenades intended for trade.

In Diyala, a search operation on agricultural land uncovered an iron barrel buried near a drainage area. The barrel contained single ammunition, ammunition magazines, launcher missiles, various mortar shells, and several rounds.

The statement concluded that the accused individuals, along with the seized items, have been referred to the competent authorities for necessary legal proceedings.
