Baghdad: Speaker of the House of Representatives Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani has put forward a series of proposals aimed at supporting Palestine and preventing the displacement of the people of Gaza. The media office of the Speaker announced that Al-Mashhadani reiterated Iraq’s ongoing support for Palestine and Gaza, emphasizing that Iraq’s solidarity extends beyond the events of October 7.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mashhadani outlined several mechanisms to bolster the Palestinian cause. These include the enactment of laws by Arab parliaments to reject the displacement of Gaza’s residents and provide urgent support. The proposed measures aim to prevent the transfer of Gaza’s population to neighboring countries such as Jordan and Egypt.

Al-Mashhadani’s proposals also call for the criminalization of countries and companies, particularly those in technology and artificial intelligence sectors, that assist in targeting Palestinians. He underscored the need for legislative efforts to facilitate urgent aid to Gaza, especially with the approach of Ramadan, and to ensure the smooth entry of this aid in collaboration with neighboring nations.

Further proposals include the establishment of an Arab-Islamic investment fund dedicated to the reconstruction of Gaza and the West Bank. This initiative seeks to bolster sovereignty over Jerusalem. Al-Mashhadani also emphasized the importance of grants to Gaza and the West Bank, advocating for legislation that mandates their collection.

The proposals extend to enhancing the role of UNRWA and appealing to the United Nations to maintain its operations. Economic support measures include boosting Gaza’s local economy to alleviate poverty and ensuring a decent living for its residents. Additionally, Al-Mashhadani suggested tax exemptions for Palestinian goods to support local production and agriculture.

Lastly, the proposals advocate for unified legislation by Arab parliaments to criminalize normalization with the Zionist entity, except under the condition of establishing a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. Islamic parliaments are urged to adopt similar positions to support Palestinians in their homeland.
