Baghdad: Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, held discussions with Iskandar Momeni, the Minister of Interior of the Islamic Republic of Iran, focusing on the procedures to facilitate the entry of Iranian visitors to the holy shrines located in Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Office released a statement detailing the meeting’s agenda, which included discussions on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing issues of mutual interest. Topics of discussion encompassed the security of the shared borders based on existing agreements, collaboration in combating drug smuggling, and enhancing border control measures. The coordination at border crossings to ensure security and stability was also highlighted.

Both parties emphasized the importance of facilitating the entry of Iranian visitors to Iraq’s holy shrines. Additionally, they reiterated the necessity of activating the memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi and Iranian Ministries of Interior. This memorandum includes the mutual recognition of driving licenses between the two nations, indicating a commitment to strengthening cooperation and easing travel regulations for citizens.
