Baghdad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs settled the controversy over what was circulated in the media about an expected visit by the Syrian Foreign Minister to the capital, Baghdad, in the coming hours.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry stated in a press release that the Syrian Foreign Minister, Asaad Al-Shaibani, had previously received an official invitation from Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein. The invitation is part of efforts to discuss bilateral relations between Syria and Iraq, as well as regional security and political developments.
The Ministry further clarified that the date of the visit is yet to be determined. It emphasized that necessary coordination between the two sides must be completed to ensure that the visit serves their common interests.
