Cairo: President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid reaffirmed Iraq’s unwavering support for Lebanon’s security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. This commitment aims to protect Lebanon’s interests and ensure the well-being of its people.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during his participation in the emergency Arab Summit in Cairo, President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid met with Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun and his delegation, which included Foreign Minister Youssef Raji, Lebanese Ambassador Ali Halabi, and advisors Jean Aziz, Rafik Shalala, and Brigadier General Andieh Rahal. The President extended his congratulations to President Aoun on his new role and expressed wishes for success and prosperity for Lebanon.

The meeting underscored the importance of Iraq-Lebanon relations and the need to expand bilateral cooperation to benefit both nations. Discussions also touched on the Arab summit’s agenda, focusing on support for the Palestinian people. President Rashid emphasized the necessity for Arab nations to adopt a unified stance on the Palestinian issue and reiterated Iraq’s condemnation of recent aggressions against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, advocating for their right to security and stability.

President Aoun expressed gratitude for Iraq’s support and highlighted Lebanon’s desire to strengthen ties and enhance cooperation with Iraq across various sectors. The meeting was attended by Iraqi and Kurdish officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government Qubad Talabani, Iraq’s Ambassador to the Arab League Dr. Qahtan al-Janabi, and Presidential Advisor Mustafa Ghaleb Makhif.
