Damascus: Ahmad al-Sharaa has signed an agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces, aiming to integrate them into state institutions. The Syrian presidency has emphasized that this agreement underscores the unity of Syrian lands and stands against any division.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the agreement was reached following a meeting between Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Madhloum Abdi. It guarantees the rights of all Syrians to representation and political participation.

The agreement also includes a ceasefire across all Syrian territories and acknowledges the Kurdish community as an integral part of the state with guaranteed rights to citizenship and constitutional inclusion. Additionally, it aims to integrate civil and military institutions in northeastern Syria into the Syrian state’s administration.

The Syrian Democratic Forces, known as the SDF, were formed with American support on October 10, 2015, in Syria’s Hasakah Governorate, primarily to combat the terrorist organization ISIS. The SDF primarily comprises the People’s Protection Units, which is the main Kurdish armed force and considered the backbone of the SDF.
