Geneva: Minister of Finance Taif Sami participated in the plenary session of the International Debt Management Conference, held in Geneva, where a number of vital issues were raised in the context of governance and financial risk management.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry stated in a statement: “The agenda included a series of meetings that addressed several key topics, including governance, accountability, and transparency in light of financial constraints. This session addressed the foundations and mechanisms for improving the management of financial resources in light of current economic challenges.”
It continued: “The meeting also discussed the relationship between debt and climate, and reviewed innovative debt instruments aimed at managing financial risks resulting from climate change. It also discussed reviewing reporting and ensuring the necessary standards to increase transparency and accountability in debt management, and discussed strategies for managing institutional challenges with the aim of establishing a sustainable debt management office, which would contribute to supporting financial stability and developing institutional capacities in the long term.”
