National Security: Arrest of Two Drug Trafficking Networks in Diyala and Najaf


Baghdad: The National Security Service announced the arrest of two drug trafficking networks operating in the provinces of Diyala and Najaf. A statement by the Service stated, “After a precise security operation, the National Security Service’s field detachments were able to lure one of the most prominent dealers in Diyala Governorate and arrest him red-handed. A white crystal meth weighing 1 kilogram was seized. The luring operation took place in Baghdad Governorate after targeting him in an ambush based on accurate intelligence information. In accordance with judicial decisions, legal measures were taken against the accused and he was detained in accordance with Article 28 of the Narcotics Law.”



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the statement continued, “In Najaf, our Service detachments arrested two drug dealers after a precise tracking operation. More than a kilogram of crystal meth was seized in their possession. The accused, along with the seized items, were handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.”
