Mosul: The Federal Integrity Commission announced the arrest of four employees affiliated with the General Directorate of Education in Nineveh Governorate. They embezzled sums of money belonging to 10 fictitious employees affiliated with the directorate’s representative office in Erbil Governorate.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission stated in a statement that a specialized field team was formed from the Nineveh Investigation Directorate, in cooperation, coordination, and supervision of the judge of the Nineveh Investigation Court specializing in integrity cases. The Commission noted that the team’s follow-up, investigation, and inquiry revealed violations committed by the Nineveh Education Directorate and its representative office in Erbil, resulting in the embezzlement of large sums of money.
The statement continued that the team was able to arrest four directorate employees for disbursing salaries to ten fictitious employees in the directorate, who were affiliated with the Erbil Education Department. It explained that the employees had not actually begun their official work hours after the liberation of Mosul from the terrorist ISIS gangs, and that court rulings had been issued against them.
The Commission further noted that a formal arrest report was prepared and presented, along with the defendants, to the investigating judge of the Nineveh Court, which is responsible for examining integrity cases. The judge decided to detain the four defendants in accordance with the provisions of Article 315 of the Penal Code.
