Baghdad: Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed that the Anti-Terrorism Service has gained extensive experience and is at the forefront of the region’s anti-terrorism forces.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani made these remarks during an iftar banquet with officers and fighters of the service. He recalled the heroism and sacrifices of the Anti-Terrorism Service, which was the first nucleus of the Special Operations Command and carried out operations that continue to punish terrorists. He praised the operation in which the service’s forces punished the terrorist known as Abu Khadija, noting it as a matter of pride for all security institutions.
A statement from his media office confirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the security forces, with Al-Sudani stating: “The international ratings of the service are the best evidence of its standing, and our mission is to maintain this status, while remaining prepared and planning to confront the remaining remnants and cells of the defeated ISIS, and to achieve the purpose for which the service was formed, which is to combat terrorism.”
Al-Sudani stressed the importance of guaranteeing the rights of the families of martyrs and ensuring they receive all their dues, maintaining communication with their families as a form of acknowledgment of their sacrifices. He also emphasized the need to care for the service’s wounded and overcome obstacles that hinder their access to their dues.
During the meeting, Al-Sudani highlighted the service’s sacrifices and its fight against terrorism, in partnership with other security agencies, which have positioned it at the forefront of the region’s anti-terrorism forces. He expressed the government’s commitment to ensuring the rights and well-being of the service’s members by providing necessary living requirements and equipment. Al-Sudani announced that significant progress has been made in securing housing for members, with serviced residential plots soon to be distributed in Nahrawan.
