Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has instructed his office to withdraw the lawsuits previously filed against journalists. A statement from his media office confirmed that Al-Sudani met with several political program presenters from Iraqi satellite channels on Wednesday evening.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting covered various topics concerning the government’s work and the performance of executive bodies. Al-Sudani emphasized the critical role of media in uncovering the truth, asserting that journalism today is vital in correcting the performance of the executive branch by helping officials identify and rectify errors and lapses. He also highlighted the importance of proposing necessary solutions to improve governance.

The Prime Minister engaged with attendees by answering questions and inquiries related to government performance, public affairs, regional developments, and Iraq’s foreign policy positions. During the session, Al-Sudani made the decision to drop all lawsuits against journalists accused of offenses and allegations that extend beyond the limits of freedom of expression.
