Manama: Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein delivered an official invitation from President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain on Monday to attend the Baghdad Summit scheduled for next month.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry indicated that King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein at Al-Qudhaibiya Palace in the capital, Manama. The invitation was extended by President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid for the upcoming Baghdad Summit.
The statement detailed that the Foreign Minister conveyed greetings from the President of the Republic and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani to King Hamad bin Isa. The King responded by praising the longstanding historical relations between Bahrain and Iraq, emphasizing his pride in the fraternal ties that unite the two nations. He acknowledged Iraq’s rich cultural heritage and its significant contributions to literature, science, and knowledge throughout history.
King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa expressed his desire to enhance the partnership between Bahrain and Iraq across various sectors. The Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the importance of regional stability, contributing to development and reconstruction efforts. He lauded Bahrain’s initiatives to foster regional development and emphasized Iraq’s commitment to strengthening its relations with Bahrain. He also noted Iraq’s achievements in defeating ISIS and restoring security, which have paved the way for reconstruction projects and economic advancement.
The discussions between the two officials included the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States, focusing on the need for peaceful resolutions to regional tensions.
