Beijing: Beijing stressed on Monday the importance of resolving economic and trade disputes with the United States through dialogue, according to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry stated it will not accept any agreement between Washington and its trading partners that is at the expense of Beijing’s interests. It emphasized that any agreement must consider China’s interests and that it will respond accordingly if otherwise.

Xie Feng, the Chinese ambassador to the United States, commented on Sunday that China’s authorities are prepared to take decisive countermeasures if other countries initiate tariffs and trade wars against it. The ambassador conveyed, “China firmly opposes any form of tariffs or trade wars,” emphasizing that this stance is crucial in safeguarding not only China’s national interests and dignity but also the international trade and economic order, as well as international fairness and justice.

The diplomat reiterated that any imposition of “tariffs and trade wars” on China by other countries will prompt Beijing to respond with “decisive countermeasures.”
