Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior has announced that the nation’s borders are now fully secured, following the integration of advanced technologies such as drones and thermal cameras, while also reporting a significant 99% increase in anti-drug activities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director of the Relations and Media Department at the Ministry of Interior, Muqdad Miri, addressed a press conference, highlighting the ministry’s progress in security maintenance. Miri stated: “The Ministry of Interior has made great strides in maintaining security. We are undergoing a reconstruction revolution within the Ministry of Interior.”

In addressing the ongoing case of Engineer Bashir, Miri emphasized the role of the judiciary, asserting that there is no tolerance for torture or legal violations within the ministry.

Highlighting the ministry’s achievements from the start of 2025 until March 31, Miri detailed the collaborative efforts with neighboring countries to secure the borders, marking a first in equipping the borders with thermal cameras and drones. This technological advancement has ensured the full security of the border strip.

Additionally, Miri reported that the Energy Police successfully intercepted nearly four million liters of petroleum products intended for smuggling. The Intelligence Agency has also dismantled seven terrorist cells, contributing to the substantial increase in anti-drug activities. Miri noted that 57 officers have been dismissed due to violations, and praised the implementation of the e-passport system, which has eradicated corruption.

Miri reiterated the ongoing efforts to seize unauthorized weapons and ensure that weapon possession is restricted exclusively to state authorities.
