Baghdad: The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate Council convened its regular weekly meeting under the leadership of Muayyad al-Lami, the President of the Syndicate. The meeting underscored the essential role of media in the forthcoming legislative elections.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council examined various topics, notably the Syndicate’s preparations for the National Day of the Iraqi Press, celebrated annually on June 15. The Council stressed the significance of this event, reflecting the crucial national contribution of Iraqi journalists in executing their professional duties within a democratic framework and a secure media environment in Iraq.
Additionally, the Council highlighted the media’s vital role in educating citizens about updating their information in electoral registers ahead of the legislative elections. The directive extended to the Syndicate’s branches across governorates to actively participate in this initiative, aligning with the nation’s overarching interests.
