Beirut: The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Iranian ambassador to Beirut, Mojtaba Amani, following his statements regarding the disarmament of the “resistance,” a reference to Hezbollah. These statements have sparked widespread controversy in Lebanese circles.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Amani explained during a press interview that he had received an invitation from Hani Shmaytali, Secretary-General of the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, he informed them that he was currently busy and that a later date for the meeting would be set. During the private interview, Amani retracted his previous statements, stating, “The issue of disarming the resistance is an internal Lebanese affair, and the Islamic Republic of Iran does not interfere in this matter.”

Amani’s comments come amidst official calls in Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah. He had previously posted a tweet on his personal account describing these calls as a “clear conspiracy” and warned others against “falling into the trap of the enemies of the resistance.”

It is noteworthy that Mojtaba Amani was injured in a Hezbollah pager explosion some time ago, which has heightened the sensitivity surrounding his recent statements.
