Baghdad: Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab Abdullah, engaged in discussions with Serbian Ambassador to Iraq, Branislav Jejel, focusing on cooperation in the field of water resources and the implementation of sustainable projects.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Water Resources released a statement detailing the meeting between Minister Abdullah and Ambassador Jejel. The discussions centered on enhancing joint cooperation between Iraq and Serbia in water resource management and the execution of sustainable projects utilizing the latest technologies and innovations.

The statement highlighted the goal of strengthening the partnership between the two nations, particularly in water management, modern irrigation, tackling water challenges, and infrastructure development. The potential for benefiting from Serbian expertise in implementing projects that leverage advanced technology to improve water resource efficiency was also explored.

The Minister emphasized the significance of inte
rnational cooperation in addressing water challenges and expressed Iraq’s interest in learning from the successful experiences of countries like Serbia, specifically in water basin management and smart irrigation technologies.

Additionally, the Minister invited the Serbian Ambassador to the Fifth Baghdad International Water Conference, which will also host the 11th Irrigation and Microdrainage Conference of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage, scheduled from May 24 to 26 this year.

The Serbian Ambassador conveyed Serbia’s readiness to assist Iraq in developing its water sector by providing technical and training expertise to boost national capabilities in this essential field.
