Diyala Security Forces Seize 59 Tons of Used Iron Intended for Smuggling


Diyala: Security forces in Diyala seized large quantities of used iron, intended for smuggling to the Kurdistan Region. Brigadier General Haitham Al-Shammari, Director of Media for the Diyala Police, told a correspondent for the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): “The security forces are continuing their efforts to monitor the smuggling routes of used iron from Baghdad and the southern governorates to the Kurdistan Region, where they were able to seize two trucks loaded with 59 tons of used iron on the Baghdad-Kirkuk road.”



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Shammari emphasized that the security forces continue to carry out field missions and monitor all illegal activities. This is part of a concerted effort to preserve public funds and state resources. The operations are being conducted in cooperation with relevant security and oversight agencies.



The seizure highlights ongoing efforts by the Diyala Police to curb illegal activities and protect national resources. The authorities have been vigilant in monitoring and intercepting smuggling operations, particularly those involving the illegal transport of materials such as used iron.
