Islamabad: The Pakistani army announced the downing of two spy drones in the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Kashmir region with India on Tuesday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the two drones were identified as ‘Indian’ and had crossed the LoC in Kashmir. They were targeted by the Pakistani army while conducting reconnaissance on the Pakistani side of the LoC. The source further specified that the drones were remotely piloted quadcopters.

On the Indian side, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with the country’s top security officials to discuss the repercussions of the Kashmir attack that occurred last Tuesday, which resulted in numerous casualties. Indian media reported that Modi instructed the military during the meeting, attended by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, to respond at an appropriate time and place.

Earlier in the day, Indian Home Minister Govind Mohan convened a high-level meeting with senior security and military officials to deliberate on the response to the Kashmir attack. In the wake of the attack, India has taken several steps against Pakistan, including downgrading the Pakistani diplomatic mission and suspending the Treaty on the Sharing of Rivers. Islamabad, in response, has ordered its citizens to leave India and has pledged to counter any potential Indian aggression.
