Foreign Minister Delivers Invitation to Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council to Attend Arab Summit in Baghdad


Riyadh: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met on Sunday with the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of the Republic of Yemen, Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, at his residence in the city.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the meeting, the Minister delivered an official invitation letter from the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, to President Al-Alimi to attend the Arab Summit scheduled to be held in the capital, Baghdad, this month.



Fuad Hussein emphasized that the summit comes amid significant challenges facing the region, necessitating strengthened joint Arab action and intensified coordination to address current crises.



The Yemeni President expressed his appreciation for the invitation and congratulated Iraq on overcoming numerous challenges, regaining its active role in the regional arena.



The meeting involved discussions on the political and humanitarian developments in Yemen. Fuad Hussein expressed Iraq’s support for initiatives aimed at achieving stability and ending the conflict, underscoring the importance of reaching a political settlement to pave the way for a comprehensive national dialogue.



Discussions also covered developments in the security situation in Syria, with both sides emphasizing the need to preserve Syria’s territorial integrity and end foreign interference. They expressed grave concern over the ongoing escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories and condemned the attacks and violations committed by the Israeli entity against the Palestinian people. The international community was urged to shoulder its responsibilities in ending these violations and providing international protection for the Palestinians.



Both parties highlighted the importance of holding the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad as a pivotal event for strengthening Arab solidarity and activating mechanisms for collective action to confront the political and security challenges facing Arab countries.
