Baghdad: The Ministry of Health announced the destruction of over 68 kg of narcotic and psychotropic substances.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry revealed that the destruction process was supported and guided by the Minister of Health, Dr. Saleh Al-Hasnawi, who is also the Chairman of the Supreme National Authority for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances. The Destruction Committee was responsible for examining the quantities intended for destruction, which were accumulated in 600 cases of narcotics and psychotropic substances over the period from May 4-8, 2025. The substances were destroyed at the Forensic Medicine Department in Baghdad.

Judge Yasser Al-Khuzai confirmed that the destruction process utilized dedicated incinerators, operating at temperatures reaching 1,100 degrees Celsius. This method ensured that the narcotic substances were completely transformed into ash, devoid of any drug traces.
