Baghdad: Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the necessity of enhancing the Arab League’s mechanisms to tackle economic, environmental, and developmental challenges.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s media office detailed that al-Sudani met with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, on Tuesday. During the meeting, they discussed the final preparations for the upcoming Arab Summit, scheduled to be held in Baghdad this Saturday. They aimed to ensure that the summit would be both distinguished and successful, thereby reflecting Iraq’s standing in the Arab and regional context and contributing to the aspirations of the Arab peoples.

The meeting highlighted the importance of the summit, considering the sensitive stage of events and challenges currently facing the region and the Arab world. It underlined Iraq’s significant role in formulating ongoing solutions and presenting practical initiatives to address contemporary issues.

Al-Sudani reiterated the importance of enhancing the mechanisms and institutions of the Arab League across various areas of Arab cooperation and partnership. This includes addressing economic, environmental, and developmental issues, as well as fostering joint security cooperation among Arab countries.
