Baghdad: The Political Advisor to the Prime Minister, Fadi Al-Shammari, confirmed that Iraq is seeking a roadmap to implement the decisions made during the 34th Arab Summit held in Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Shammari stated that 18 initiatives were presented at the summit, focusing on political, developmental, economic, and security issues. While most of these initiatives are Iraqi, others were contributed by fellow Arab countries. These initiatives were developed during preparatory meetings, approved at delegates’ meetings, and finally ratified at the summit meeting of leaders.

Al-Shammari emphasized Iraq’s intent to develop a roadmap for implementing these decisions, acknowledging that some pose challenges to the success of the summit in Baghdad. Despite these challenges, Iraq is committed to striving for their implementation.

Addressing the controversy over the departure of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Al-Shammari clarified that the Qatari delegation, led by Sheikh Tamim, attended the summit in Baghdad. His departure was pre-arranged due to presidential commitments, and it did not indicate any issues between Qatar and Iraq. The Qatari delegation completed its participation in the political and development summits.

Al-Shammari further highlighted the strong relationship between Iraq and Qatar, describing Sheikh Tamim as a brother and close friend of Iraq. He noted the effective partnership between Iraq and Qatar in political, security, and economic fields, which is consistent with Iraq’s relations with other Gulf Arab states and countries in the region.
