Damascus: Turkey announced its intention to export two billion cubic meters of natural gas and increase its electricity exports to Syria. Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated at a press conference with his Syrian counterpart, Mohammed al-Bashir, in Damascus that the gas exports will begin soon, though no specific date was provided. Additionally, Turkey aims to triple its electricity exports to Syria, reaching 1,000 megawatts in the coming months.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Minister Bayraktar arrived in Damascus on Thursday morning for an official visit focused on enhancing cooperation in energy and mining. During his visit, he is also scheduled to meet Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments of common interest.

This visit is part of a series of official meetings between Turkey and Syria, representing efforts to rebuild relations after years of tension. The diplomatic engagements highlight a mutual desire to open a new chapter based on economic and security cooperation, addressing past differences amid regional and international changes reshaping relations in the region.
