Moscow: The Kremlin confirmed that there is no agreement yet on a second Russian-Ukrainian meeting, which could be held in the Vatican, according to American press reports, to discuss a possible ceasefire. Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during his daily press briefing: “There is no agreement yet, nor is there a concrete agreement on future meetings.” He added that “work is continuing to implement the agreements reached.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Russia and Ukraine confirmed that they want to implement the agreement to exchange 1,000 prisoners from each side, announced last Friday in Turkey, before considering further discussions. Peskov confirmed, “Everyone wants this to happen quickly,” without specifying a date.

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said following a phone call with US President Donald Trump, that Kyiv is considering all possibilities regarding the location of a new bilateral meeting with the Russians, particularly Turkey, the Vatican, and Switzerland. Moscow and Kyiv held their first peace talks since the spring of 2022 in Turkey last Friday, but the meeting, which lasted less than two hours, failed to reach a ceasefire or achieve other major breakthroughs.

In this context, the Russian News Agency Interfax, citing the Kremlin, reported that Russia had handed Ukraine a list of 1,000 prisoners of war it wants to return in an upcoming exchange deal.
