Umm Qasr: The Border Ports Authority announced the seizure of medical supplies intended for smuggling at Umm Qasr Northern Port. The operation was executed today, Friday, highlighting efforts to prevent unauthorized medical materials from entering the country.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the spokesperson for the Authority, Alaa al-Din al-Qaisi, detailed that the seizure was based on directives from Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani. The port directorate intercepted two 40-foot containers located outside the customs area. These containers were found to hold empty pharmaceutical envelopes and medical supplies hidden behind authorized materials. Notably, these items lacked the necessary approvals from the Ministry of Health and had not undergone any inspection, raising concerns about their suitability for medical use. Further complicating the situation, the items arrived in a metal container not designated for transporting medical supplies.

Alaa al-Din al-Qaisi further elaborated that a detailed seizure and inspection report, complete with photographic evidence, was compiled. The confiscated materials have been transferred to the Umm Qasr Northern Customs Police Station. The next step involves presenting the case to the competent investigating judge, who will determine the necessary legal actions to be taken.
