Iraq Ranks Fourth Globally in Turkish Real Estate Purchases

Ankara: Iraqi citizens have secured the fourth position globally in terms of purchasing real estate in Turkey, acquiring more than 340 homes in the first four months of 2025. The Turkish Statistical Institute released data illustrating the trends in foreign investments in Turkish real estate markets.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the report detailed that Iraqi buyers procured 344 homes between January and April of this year. These purchases placed Iraq behind Russia, Iran, and Ukraine on the list of top nations investing in Turkish properties. Specifically, the breakdown of purchases included 103 homes in January, 99 in February, 72 in March, and 70 in April.

The data also highlighted a slight increase of 2.69% in Iraqi real estate acquisitions compared to the same period last year, when 335 homes were bought. This trend reflects a steady interest from Iraqi investors in Turkish real estate.

Russian citizens led the purchasing activity, with 1,055 homes bought, followed by Iranian buyers with 576 homes and Ukrainian buyers with 424 homes. Iraq’s position in the rankings has shifted over the years, having previously fallen to second place after Iran in early 2021 and third place by April 2022, as Russian demand surged. Iraq currently holds the fourth spot in the rankings.
