Baghdad: The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency announced the arrest of four suspects accused of arms trafficking in Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the agency released a statement detailing the operations, stating that the Intelligence Agency’s detachments specialized in combating organized crime in Baghdad Governorate executed two operations aimed at curbing the circulation and trafficking of weapons. The first operation was initiated following the receipt of precise information indicating that suspects had hidden weapons underground in one of the Karkh areas. The search team, after acquiring the necessary judicial approvals, proceeded to the site, excavated the area, and discovered the concealed weapons in the suspects’ possession.

The statement further elaborated that in a separate operation, a pistol was seized, leading to the arrest of its two possessors.

Upon investigation, the four suspects admitted to possessing the weapons with the intent to traffic them. They have since been referred to the competent judicial authorities for further legal proceedings.
