Baghdad: The Head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, discussed with the Turkish Ambassador to Baghdad, Anil Bora Inan, bilateral relations between Baghdad and Ankara and ways to strengthen them to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Hakim stressed the importance of investing in common interests to strengthen this relationship, which will positively impact the Turkish and Iraqi peoples and the region as a whole. He also emphasized the importance of the development path as an international strategic project, expressing hope that it will contribute to serving the Iraqi people of all its components.

Al-Hakim called for taking into account the climatic conditions in Iraq and the high summer temperatures in water releases, highlighting the need to activate joint agreements in this field. He pointed to the importance of integration in the energy sector and the efforts to transform challenges into promising opportunities for both countries, indicating that Iraq and Turkey possess significant potential in this field.

Regarding the regional situation, Al-Hakim affirmed his support for establishing peace and stability in Syria, empowering its components, and preserving their rights. He also reiterated his belief in the correctness of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKK) move to dissolve itself and lay down its arms.

He stressed the need for cooperation in confronting terrorism in all its forms, noting that Iraq possesses a database and extensive experience in confronting terrorism and its tactics. He emphasized the importance of the upcoming elections, as they are pivotal elections that establish a new phase characterized by sustainable stability and the continuation of the wheel of construction and reconstruction.
