Baghdad: Chairman of the Council for Competition Affairs and Anti-Monopoly, Ahmed Younis Qasim, announced that the Arab Competition Forum serves as an annual platform for sharing knowledge on competition policy and enforcement. The forum attracts competition authorities from the Arab region, along with regional and international experts, academics, legislators, and representatives from the public, private, and mixed sectors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ahmed Younis Qasim, during his opening speech, highlighted that Iraq will host the Sixth Arab Competition Forum in 2025 for the first time. This event is organized in collaboration with the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), following Iraq’s assumption of the chairmanship of the Institutional Efficiency Group of the Arab Competition Network.

Younis Qasim expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for supporting Iraq’s hosting of the event. He emphasized that
the forum aims to promote a culture of competition and enhance communication among competition authorities, consultants, and international experts. These efforts are expected to bolster the efficiency of the national economy, improve the environment for conducting economic activities across industrial, commercial, and service sectors, and foster a climate of free competition.

He further noted that the Arab Competition Network initiative is designed to strengthen cooperation and facilitate information exchange between competition authorities across Arab countries.
