Yemen: A Yemeni health official announced that 12 people were killed and wounded as a result of gunfire targeting worshippers inside a mosque in Al Baydha Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director General of Health in Al Bayda Governorate, Mujahid Al Khatri, explained that the shooting occurred in a mosque while worshippers were performing the Maghrib prayer in the Qarn Al Asad area of Al Arsh District in Al Baydha Governorate. The incident resulted in the immediate death of three people.

He further added that nine people were injured in the incident, all of whom were seriously wounded and subsequently transferred to the hospital for treatment.

A local source indicated that a gunman stormed the mosque while dozens of worshippers were present and immediately opened fire indiscriminately, leading to multiple deaths and injuries. The source suggested that the gunman was mentally unstable, noting that security forces were quickly deployed to the scene and tracked down the gunman, who fled the area immediately after the incident.

The Houthi group, which controls Al Baydha Governorate, confirmed that security forces arrested the perpetrator.
