New York: The United Nations mission announced that the Security Council is set to hold a session this afternoon to address the situation in Iraq. The session is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. New York time (5:00 p.m. Baghdad time) today.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Iraq, Mohammed Al-Hassan, who also heads the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), is expected to provide a briefing during the session. The focus will be on recent developments in Iraq and matters concerning UNAMI.
