UN Representative Returns to Baghdad, Staff Withdrawal Rumors Denied

Baghdad: The United Nations Mission in Iraq has addressed the controversy regarding reports that have been circulating on some social media platforms and websites about the withdrawal of its staff from Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, UN Spokesperson in Baghdad, Samir Ghattas, clarified the situation in a text message. He stated, “This is not true. The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, who was in New York for the regular briefing to the Security Council last week, has returned to Baghdad.”

These statements aim to quell the rumors and affirm the continued presence and commitment of the United Nations Mission in Iraq. The misinformation regarding staff withdrawal appears to have been unfounded, as confirmed by the spokesperson.
