New York: Diplomatic sources confirmed, on Wednesday, that the UN Security Council will hold an emergency session next Friday, based on an official request submitted by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the request for an urgent meeting was put forward by Iran, prompting the Security Council to schedule the session. The council’s agenda and the issues to be discussed during this emergency session have yet to be disclosed.
