Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein alongside his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, have both expressed their disapproval of any further escalation in the Middle East.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement detailing a phone call between Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Ayman Safadi, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The conversation focused on regional developments amid ongoing tensions, particularly following the Israeli actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which pose significant threats to Middle Eastern security and stability. The ministers emphasized the necessity for joint efforts to manage the crisis and prevent it from worsening.

The discussion also covered preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states, scheduled to occur in Istanbul next week. The ministers highlighted the importance of aligning member states’ positions to establish a unified Islamic response to the critical escalation.

Within this framework, the ministers explored the idea of convening an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers on the periphery of the conference. This gathering would aim to explore collective Arab strategies to halt the escalation and safeguard the region’s security and the interests of its inhabitants.
