Vance: US Vice President J.D. Vance announced that the US military strikes targeting facilities in Iran have potentially set back Tehran’s efforts to develop nuclear weapons by several years. Vance said in an interview with NBC News: “I won’t disclose sensitive intelligence about what we observed on the ground in Iran, but we’ve seen a lot, and I’m quite confident that we’ve significantly delayed their efforts to develop nuclear weapons. I think we’ve set their [nuclear] program back a very long time, and I think it will be many years before the Iranians are able to develop a nuclear weapon.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Vance warned that Iran’s unwillingness to engage in negotiations with the United States will leave Washington with limited options for the future, saying in the same interview: “President Trump has said he now wants to engage in a diplomatic process. If Iran doesn’t cooperate in this regard, it won’t leave us with many options for the future.”

On Sunday night, the United States targeted three Iranian nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. President Trump described the goal of the strikes as “limiting Iran’s nuclear capabilities,” warning of more serious consequences if Tehran did not agree to “end this war.”

For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the attacks as a “betrayal of diplomacy,” stressing that his country would take all necessary measures to protect its security.
