Ankara: Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced that air restrictions imposed in the region due to the tensions that began with Israel’s attacks on Iran have been lifted, with the exception of Iranian airspace.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Uraloglu stated in a post on the X platform that as of June 26, the airspace of Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the UAE will be open to flights. He added that the process of returning Turkish aircraft stranded in the region has been ongoing since yesterday, with four aircraft returning from Iraq without issues.
However, flight restrictions remain in effect in Iranian airspace, with the exception of the Mashhad region in the east of the country. As a result, seven aircraft located in Shiraz and Tehran have not yet returned to Turkey. Uraloglu indicated that these restrictions will remain in place until July 2nd, and efforts are underway to return the aircraft to Turkey before that date.
