Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council Agrees to Humanitarian Truce in El Fasher

Khartoum: Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has agreed, during a phone call with UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres, to declare a week-long humanitarian truce in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State. This truce is in response to the international organization’s call to halt the fighting for several days, allowing aid to reach the population.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the call, al-Burhan also affirmed his commitment to completing the formation of a government of independents that would assume full executive powers. Guterres welcomed the appointment of Kamil Idris as Prime Minister and affirmed the United Nations’ support for this step toward completing the civilian transition.
