Ankara: The Iraqi Embassy in Ankara has confirmed that it is actively monitoring the situation following the tragic murder of two Iraqi brothers, Youssef and Muhammad Bashar al-Rawi, in the Turkish province of Sanliurfa. The embassy has assured that investigations are underway and the suspects involved have been apprehended.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Consul General of the Republic of Iraq in Gaziantep, Dhu al-Fiqar Tawfiq Hamoud, visited the mourning tent in Sanliurfa province. This visit was directed by the Iraqi Ambassador to Ankara, Majid al-Lajmawi, to extend condolences on behalf of the Iraqi government. The Consul General expressed the embassy and consulate’s commitment to support the victims’ family and highlighted the embassy’s continuous engagement with Turkish authorities as investigations proceed post-arrest.

The statement from the embassy reiterated its trust in the Turkish judiciary to reveal the full circumstances of the incident and to ensure justice is served. The delegation conveyed the Iraqi government’s condolences, praying for divine mercy for the deceased and comfort for their grieving family.

The brothers were killed last Thursday in Sanliurfa, a province known for its significant Arab and Iraqi communities. Local Turkish reports suggest the incident began as a quarrel, escalating swiftly and prompting security forces to open an investigation.
