Al-Araji Highlights Tribal Sheikhs’ Role in Combating Extremism


Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji emphasized the critical role of tribal sheikhs and dignitaries in Iraq in fostering societal cohesion and countering extremist discourse.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Security Chancellery released a statement detailing that Al-Araji met with Sheikh Maan al-Rumi, the Sheikh of the Bani Farir tribe, along with a delegation of dignitaries from the governorates of Baghdad, Nineveh, and Muthanna. The discussions focused on the pivotal role tribal leaders play in uniting communities and opposing radical narratives.



The meeting underscored the importance of tribal sheikhs and dignitaries in not only promoting unity but also in supporting security services. Furthermore, the gathering highlighted the need for backing government initiatives and ministerial programs aimed at maintaining stability and security in the region.
