One Person Killed in Philadelphia Truck Explosion


Philadelphia: A large explosion rocked the south of Washington, D.C., according to press reports. The Washington Post reported that one person was killed and two others were injured in a truck explosion on the north side of Philadelphia early Sunday morning local time. The explosion damaged several homes.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, firefighters responded to a report of an explosion shortly before 5:00 AM, as confirmed by the Philadelphia Fire Department. Daniel McCarthy, the department’s executive officer, stated that approximately five homes sustained extensive damage, including collapsed buildings.



McCarthy added, “The most important thing is to stabilize the surrounding homes and ensure that this danger does not spread.” Crews are expected to continue search and rescue operations. The American newspaper indicated that the authorities have not yet been able to determine the cause of the explosion.
