Basra: The Basra Governorate witnessed the commemoration of Ashura, marking the anniversary of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, with mourning gatherings across the region. The event saw significant participation from the local community.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Consul of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Basra, Ali Abdeen, took part in the central parade of Husseini processions. The event was organized by supporters of the National Shiite Movement, also known as the Sadrist movement, on Al-Tawisa Street in central Basra. The procession was attended by a number of citizens and service agencies, adding to the significance of the occasion.
