Beijing: China has announced its firm rejection of any trade agreements with Washington that could negatively affect its interests, particularly in exchange for tariff reductions. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has made it clear that Beijing will not accept any agreements that compromise its interests under the guise of “tariff relief.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a spokesperson from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce reiterated this stance in a statement, emphasizing China’s readiness to take decisive countermeasures to protect its legitimate rights and interests. The statement was in response to media inquiries regarding recent trade talks with various economies.

The spokesperson highlighted that since April, the United States has persisted in imposing what are termed “reciprocal tariffs” on its trading partners. These actions are described as “a model of unilateral bullying” that not only undermines the multilateral trading system but also disrupts the normal flow of international trade.

Furthermore, the spokesperson expressed China’s openness to resolving trade disputes with Washington through dialogue based on equality. He urged all parties involved to uphold principles of fairness and justice, defend the international trading system, and align with what he termed as the “right side of history.”
