Baghdad: United Nations Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres expressed concern over the new evacuation orders issued by the Israeli occupation authorities in northern Gaza, which have once again displaced tens of thousands of people.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, UN spokesman St©phane Dujarric stated, “The Secretary-General condemns the continued loss of civilian lives as a result of Israeli airstrikes and other attacks,” emphasizing “the need for all parties to fully comply with international law at all times, to respect and protect civilians, and for full, safe, and sustained humanitarian access to be ensured in accordance with the humanitarian principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, and independence.”

The spokesman further mentioned that the Secretary-General welcomes the ongoing efforts of the mediators and reiterates his call on the parties to urgently reach a lasting ceasefire in Gaza.

The UN spokesman quoted the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), highlighting that “people are going hungry due to severe restrictions on the delivery of supplies and the implementation of humanitarian operations throughout Gaza.”

The World Food Programme reported that one in five people are facing catastrophic levels of hunger, with more than 90,000 women and children in urgent need of treatment for malnutrition. Moreover, there are approximately 130,000 metric tons of food stored in the area, ready to serve the people of Gaza if better access is allowed.
