Kirkuk: Rebwar Taha, the governor of Kirkuk and head of the Supreme Security Committee, stated that ISIS elements were responsible for the recent attack on the airport. During his visit to the home of Jassim al-Hamdani, a security officer whose residence was severely damaged by a rocket attack, Taha confirmed the involvement of ISIS in the incident.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Taha highlighted that recent joint operations by the Counter-Terrorism Service in Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah resulted in the elimination of several ISIS leaders. These operations have led the terrorist group to retaliate by targeting civilians in the al-Uruba area of central Kirkuk and near the airport’s outskirts.
