Sulaymaniyah: The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) parliamentary bloc has demanded an urgent investigation into the recent targeting of the 70th Peshmerga Force in Sulaymaniyah by two drones. The PUK has urged Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to form an investigative committee to look into the incident, which occurred at the headquarters located in the Tasluja area of Sulaymaniyah Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the spokesman for the 70th Peshmerga Unit, Ahmed Latif, reported that the drones were shot down, one in the Tasluja area and another outside the 70th Unit headquarters. The PUK bloc condemned the attacks as criminal acts that challenge the sovereignty of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, posing a threat to regional security and civilian lives.

The PUK statement emphasized that both Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah Governorates were affected by these acts. They have called on the federal government to identify the source of the drone attacks and those responsible for them. The bloc also demanded measures to protect civilians and prevent actions that could threaten national security and coexistence.

One of the drones reportedly crashed in an alleyway in Tasluja, creating a loud noise followed by a large fire. The PUK continues to press for immediate action to safeguard the region’s security and its inhabitants.
