Beirut: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has urged the European Union to assist Lebanon in “fully restoring its territory and extending state sovereignty over it,” while also seeking comprehensive support for the Lebanese army through all available means.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Aoun cautioned that without a strong army, the security situation in Lebanon could deteriorate significantly, potentially impacting the entire region. This warning was issued during a meeting with a European delegation led by European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra de Waal, along with ambassadors from EU member states.
During the discussions, Aoun emphasized the importance of lifting European sanctions on Lebanon. He also advocated for convening a European-Arab conference aimed at rebuilding Lebanon and reviving its economy, aligning with the country’s aspirations for complete security and military sovereignty.
